Dear [Race Committee / Organizers & competitors],

As a USCG-licensed maritime captain, I could not agree more with the importance of proper navigation lights and adherence to the Rules of the Road. That being said, when the Sailing Instructions state that the NOYC series will follow Coast Guard regulations, it stands to reason that those running the race committee should also remain up to date on these requirements.

Additionally, if a boat is disqualified for a violation, then fairness demands that all competitors be held to the same standard—not just a team’s primary competition. Consistent enforcement is critical to maintaining both safety and integrity within the fleet.
