How about if I name the guy who actually snapped it (Benz screaming MORE VANG...MORE VANG as Henry pumped away at the hydraulic vang lever) and the fabulous team that fabricated a boom overnight from a metal pipe (Scott and parents)?
Another related Challenge Cup question: How many boats were passed upwind (the boom broke on the first upwind leg) with just a big number 1 while everyone else sailed with a 3 and a reef? Or downwind with just a huge spinnaker as the boat tried to broach every three seconds?
What a ride that was! If we hadn't wasted time trying to lash the spin pole to the mast, we would have won first place!
