Below is what Jen Chamberlain (Kippy's wife) posted on her blog yesterday morning. I'll keep posting as I'm updated.
Hurricane Katrina. Katrina came on land as a Category 4 with sustained winds of 140. Now it looks like its down to 125. Unlike all the other hurricanes, this one is going right over Bay Saint Louis. Bay Saint Louis is on the Mississippi/Louisiana line on the Gulf Coast. Kippy's parents and brother are there right now. They went to higher ground to a brick house that survived Camille. I am very worried about them and their house. Their house is right on the Bay and it says that the water is 16 to 22' above normal, which means they may have water and mud coming into their house as we speak. Hopefully the roof is fine, they just got a new one last year and all of our wedding gifts and my dress are in their attic. Although that is really miniscule compared to a whole house being pulled apart. They expect the hurricane to hit Jackson around 3 p.m. and by then it should just be tropical storm force winds. Kippy is out getting batteries, candles, matches, water, and gas for his car. I'm going to shower in a second and then fill up th bathtub with water just in case the power goes it (lets you flush the toilet). And the rest of the day will be devoted to trying to get in touch with Kippy's parents and watching movies.
