I finally saw a ariel picture of the 17th St. Canal breach. O'k, so why not use the bridge itself as a dam and just drop old cars, concrete, steel beams, rocks, etc. in front of the bridge itself.

It would be a mess to clean up, but it would plug the bridge structure enough to allow sandbags or gravel to be dumped. If cars are parked there, then you can probably get trucks with material and a crane there.

The hole in the levee is obviously too large and the ground too soft to accept any bridging material.

How about a few of you Bucktown Engineers take care of that, while the Army Corp takes more pictures?
