OK, so how do I, sitting in Corpus Christi, get food/water to the people who need it. I would drive there with supplies, but it's a long way, and I don't know if I would be let in. Those closer to the scene would be more appropriate, I think.
I could rely on the contributions I've already given to the gov't (taxes), but I think that has fallen short of the task so far. The Red Cross is supposed to pick up the slack, and I am sure I've seen them on the ground at the Superdome.
If the Red Cross is not doing the job, who is? Are individuals within a few hours' drive loading up supplies and driving them as close as they can to the scene? If not, why not? Are there any other organizations that are, that need financial assistance?
