This is no time for jokes right now - the destruction, death, and pain and suffering that we, the residents of New Orleans, are feeling right now is not comprehendable. My family has no idea when we will even be able to go back to our home to see IF there is anything left. In reality, with the levees breaking, everything that wasn't damaged by wind will be destroyed by flooding. The other thing is - JOBS! I know that I no longer have a job, nor does my mom. My father has an office in Houston Texas (and yes, he's in the oil business - whole different problem b/c of the storm), but the main office is based out of New Orleans and could be closed permamently. What do we do about jobs? How do you go about feeding your family? Paying your bills? The list is endless! I just feel numb.
At a time like this, I have been overwhelmed by friends in the sailing community, from San Diego to New York, offering places to stay, and even a possible job.
Please, this is NOT a time for joking or flaming, even thought this is S.A.
Take it from me, this is a terrible situation. Fortunately we have relatives out of town, and my family and I are currently in Charleston, S.C. - may be living here for some time.
Should any of you want to reach me, my email is javacrew35@cox.net and my cell # is 504-812-3551, though most phone calls don't go through with the 504 area code.
Your thoughts, prayers, and donations are appreciated more than you will ever know.
Riess Livaudais Hey, you still in Charleston???
