went to City Hall, signed the ROE, aka Death Warrant, for my property, then went for a last "kick the rubble". At the Hwy 90 checkpoint, they are giving out new passes for HP/PCI residents, divided into zones. You can get into your zone except times when they are bulldozing that area (they weren't specific as to when that would be or how to find out other than the hotline numbers below).
They then mentioned that residents in that area had to sign the ROE there (at the sheriff's checkpoint). Slightly different form and more formal - they looked you up on the computer to confirm it was your property. Seeing my spouse's name, they said she had to sign, too. So now they are certified mailing the doc home and we'll have to get it notarized.
This week was supposed to be the deadline for HP/PCI residents to get in on the free demolition and clearing, but only 150 of 450 residents have responded. The reason is simple, there isn't an organized notification system to let people know about it. For anyone interested, they gave me three ROE Hotline numbers:
800-522-0474, 228-522-0474, 228-518-1741
Anyway, best salvage of the day: a SYC swallowtail burgee and Mount Gay flag were floating in the bay (60 days) across the street, they had been in my downtairs.
Life goes on....
