I took ouside passage from Pensacola to Ship Island (to avoid any debris) at 16 knots (1,800 rpm) without any problems. Markers were gone for the most part though a few appeared to be new. Took Ship Island pass to Pass Marianne and followed channel via GPS (few markers) to ICW entrance. Took ICW to industrial canal at 6-7 knots (1,200 rpm) because I was afraid of debris. Again no significant problem until the railroad bridge at Industrial canal.
That SOB bridge operator would only open the bridge half way so I had to hug the side of the channel while there was a strong (2 kts?) current pushing me through. An interesting and uncomfortable sensation.
Then Industrial Canal to Causeway north draw and north draw to Marina del Ray for fuel. Boat will now be home for a family until thier house is fixed.
Sorry cannot elaboarate on the inland route to Ship Island, though one tug I spoke to said the channel was ok though with markers missing. He said he has not seen much pleasure traffic lately. I cn't imagine why. I hope this helps someone.
