In 1968 I was 12 years old and can remember catching their lines when they would come in from practicing every day. They also tested new Schreck sails everyday. They would work on the sails over night and test the next day. Peter Harken was a buddy of Buddy's and they were the first to have the Harken Blocks--ball bearing. They were really cool at that time. The decks were the most beautiful teak with black lifecaulk in the cracks. Wooden varnished spars for most of the time, then got aluminum, black if I'm not mistaken. The one thing that really amazed me was that the RED hull was painted by Fac-To_Bake and was the finest finish available at the time. It was glass slick and shiney too. Also had fancy bilge pumps that led to the weather side and had shock cord attached. The discharges were on the leeward side and flush on the deck. That is about all I can remember at this time.
