As the guy who scheduled the MW's I follow the same procedure every year. This is a national event dictated by the US J-22 class and they select the dates based primarily on other national events (J-24 MW's,etc). This year they asked to move to this weekend in March bc of some bad weather in past years both here and in Houston last year over President's day weekend.Once the dates are selected, I then pass them on to our sailing activities cmttee who place the event on our tenative schedule which is then distributed to the GYA before or at the GYA annual meeting so all schedules can be reconciled but generally we can't move national events around. The March dates were finalized w/the class around the beginning of October although I didn't post a NOR until recently.Hope this clears up any confusion.Personally ,I'd like to see Mardi Gras regatta the week before MW's as it would serve as an ideal warm up and probably get 20 plus 22's on the line.I assure you there was no intent to step on anyone's toes or regattas.
