It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of Billy Ibs on Wednesday, March 7th at Gulfport Memorial Hospital.

Billy was a New Orleans native who spent his retirement years in Pass Christian. Those who knew Billy remember his passion for the sport of sailing. Sailing was his life. Competing in such regattas as The Congressional Cup, The Liptons, and The Prince of Whales, Billy was a true talent on the water. He was a generous man, who shared his teachings with all who wanted to learn. A member of multiple GYA clubs, his teachings and influence still reflect on the water today.

Billy left this life in the way he lived; a teacher, a competitor, and a friend. He was one of the “Greats” that will be truly missed.
