Re: 1983 Morgan 384 For Sale Good Deal?

Good solid design. Boat has been re-gelcoated and that would cost $14,000 plus at a decent yard today. Anything marine related that is 5 years or older doesn't really add much value such as sails and electronics.

Used boat market prices are high right now. A few things driving the costs:

-labor shortage to make new boats
-several boat manufacturers closed
-increased materials costs
-more buyers than sellers

Even know that engine has been overhauled i'd be leery of future longevity.

Get it surveyed, look for termite damage, budget for new engine and standard rigging. Ask broker about Mystic and C&C 35 Overtheline in the front harbor by SYC. They may be a better value. Beauty is in eyes of the buyer.
