The New GYA PHRF ratings that's just recently issued have not only the more complex ratings based on Course Type and Wind Speed, but also include a simpler single number rating similar to the old PHRF ratings (seconds per mile).
GYA is calling this the "GENERAL PURPOSE RATING" and suggest that under the discretion of the RC this General Purpose Rating can be used exactly as the old PHRF rating was applied, in lieu of the more complicated Wind Speed & Course ratings.
Using this simpler General Purpose Rating method Wind Speed nor Course have an impact on the race calculation and thus has no impact on the final results.
