Here is the video of Zephyr 2.0 rebuild (see link below) which took over a year between May 2008 and June 2009. This is J/30 hull number 87 formerly named Rampage. She was originally owned by the Chicago Yacht Club Race Committee chairman.. Rampage has raced 5 Chicago Mackinac regattas, the plaques are down below. The second owner was US Judge Bob Conrad who sold the boat to us in 2008 as the third owner. Team Zephyr has won 7 J/30 National Championships.
I remember installing the windows and tracks in 2009 on the way to Challenge Cup in Gulfport. She finished 3rd in 2009 and won in 2010 and beyond.
Special thanks to everyone who sailed on this special J/30, Zephyr V2.0 over the past 13 years. We go out in racing and cruising modes (50% men 50% women) over 50 times a year with an average duration of 2 hours with 7-8 sailors. This equates to 17,500 hours of fun on the water since 2009. If you add up all of the costs divided by the number of hours of fun, it is easy to see sailing is less expensive vs golf.
Zephyr V2.0 will sail again soon.
