I have been on the water all over this country. By far South Florida has the worst boaters in the country. They have narrow well marked channels with shoals and reefs on both sides all over the keys. Boats travel at 45-60 knots in the middle of the channel dodging kayakers , jet skis and slow moving sailboats all day long. A power boater going 50 knots within 15-25 feet of a 20 foot slow moving sloop in a narrow channel is a regular hourly occurrence. Typically it is Miami-Dade County folks visiting the Keys. I find the natives very safe, friendly, frustrated and concerned. I am surprised we do not read an article like this daily coming out of South Florida.
