I can assure you Charlie Erickson never had anything to do with the GLR other than participate. The race was originally delegated to the first Saturday following Labor Day to avoid all other events by SYC & NOYC- What a drifting & tropical storm mess that was every few years. We finally got it moved to later in September. The sailing calendar has been reduced & maybe the race can find a later date without stepping on SYC & NOYC Closing, Pink Ribbon, LPRC or Sugar Bowl. In it’s Hey Day 125 boats sailed to TYC for the finish party. I would like to see it blasted by GYA to all certificate boats in La & MS. It is a fun & novel race that needs to be shortened at times to keep the enthusiasm up in the cruising NonSpiin Fleet.
