Moving to North Carolina J/30 for Sale

J/30 For Sale - I am preparing to move as the job market in New Orleans is soft.

The old saying the happiest days of boat ownership is the day you buy and the day you sell. This isn't true for me, as I enjoyed the 15 years of owning J/30 hull number 87. This boat has won a J/30 National Championship, GYA Offshore Challenge Cup, GYA Women's PHRF Champonship, NOYC Boat of the Year, etc... She won fleet the last Wednesday night of the season with a female skipper. Her racing success is not associated with a single sailor - it was a team of people who contributed equally to make her "go fast". The general rule was to sail with 50% guys 50% gals when possible. We took turns at the helm. The rule was always, if you are going to yell on the boat, yell something nice. The unprecidented "good times" experienced on this boat was a "high water mark" in the sport of sailing.

We are the third official owner. Prior to purchase, it was cruised very lightly over the previous 19 years (1990 to 2009). Was owned from 1979 to 1990 by the Chicago Yacht Club Race Committee Chairman, an avid racer in Chicago (raced 5 consecutive "Chicago to Mackinac Island" races until US Judge District 4, Robert Conrad bought it and cruised her after moving to Lake Norman, NC.

It has a rebuilt Martec Eliptec prop and replaced 7/8" balanced shaft, 1991 new generation mast, brand new Benz Faget North Sales sails and all refreshed hardware, full interior (removable table, ice box, alcohol stove, electronics panel, nav. station, etc), safety gear (life jackets harnesses, MOB gear, horse-shoe ring) and new life-lines and halyards. She has a brand new radio and Velocitek racing instrument (with night vision back light).

The boat is in good overall condition with a new paint job, Awlgrip Stark White with Zephyr V1.0 Stars and Stripes Blue/Gray boot stripe. The hull is feathered with a new Sintes Boat Works racing bottom job (Intralux 2000e barrier with BaltoPlate). Donnie Brennan faired "go fast" keel and rudder. The interior has replaced blue cushions. Hatches have been replaced. Deck needs a paint refresh. Deck color is Awlgrip Chevy Gray with SeaDeck trim in cockpit area. A/C and dehumidifier included.

Sail inventory includes a full set of PHRF and new set of OD sails.

$30,000 (obo) Contact: David Erwin via dave@j30.us

NOTE: Zephyr logos and spinnakers with logos will be retained. The boat will need to be renamed.
