Wet vs Dry is all about boat preparation. Each has their benefits but both should use cranes on race day. Wet sailed boats can if they desired have a clean bottom every race day with the added benefit of being able to step on and go for a random sail. Dry sail have to launch the boat anytime they want to go sailing but have a clean bottom. Unless a wet sailed boat hauls out every race day there is no way of finding out if it is actually slower. From what I have seen in the 80 fleet every dog has their day and wet sailed boats beat dry sailed sometimes.
