Good starts are getting stuck under a j/122 or 111 bad starts are under a j/30 and nailing the start is clean air. There are pluses and minuses to both starting as a class picking your way through a spread out fleet or starting with significantly different boats and being stuck in the bad air or being fouled by boats who don't know or care about the rules.
