Since I don't know what the comments were, I will take a guess at what you are asking.

What rating system you use probably depends on what kind of race you are doing:

For Wednesday Night Racing - a one-rating PHRF probably is simple and easy to score. Since the retirement of Tom Beery, there is no Legacy PHRF or ORA1. As Tom said in his last email to us, the Offshore Racing Association (ORA) will no longer support ORA1 after December 2024. So, Legacy PHRF and ORA1 certificates expire at the end of this year. However, ORA has published a one-number PHRF rating on their 2024 ORREz certificates if a club wants to use that number. Or you could just continue to make up ratings for boats that don’t have a certificate as has been done for years. As long as the competitors think that is fair and have no problem, just continue.

For WL weekend races, the Open and Classic Fleet (sailing triangles) will likely continue to use the ORREz Performance Curve Scoring system. The RC does not have to determine wind speeds for those races. Competitors who have sail those races under that system since 2018 seem to be satisfied. DItto for Race to the Coast and Pensacola Race.

In the five years that Challenge Cup has used ORREz with wind bands or with Performance Curve Scoring, NOYC has won two of the five events. It is up to the GYA Exec Committee to determine what they want to use for that event. As far as Legacy PHRF, I don’t think they are going to find another Tom Beery to perform that function. Kevin Blank who took Tom's place as chairman of GYA Handicap has indicated that he will no be re-starting Legacy PHRF.
