Sailors should really apply for a unique sail number via US Sailing ($10 fee) to eliminate duplicate sail numbers. This would take some pressure off of race committees across the nation who may make scoring mistakes.
Can you imagine how many hull # 6s there are across the fleets?
Zephyr has a five-digit unique sail number assigned by US Sailing in 1979. The number 26245 indicates the original sail number was assigned when the boat lived in Chicago.
