Seduisant of NOYC takes 1st place in Cruiser Class in a harrowing Race to the Coast which saw 1 boat, Privateer, de-masted about 175 yards off our starboard beam, and several damaged and drop out of the 175th anniversary event. Privateer was going faster than any boat I've ever personally witnessed while racing. I guesstimate 25-28 knots. They went from expressions of elation to depression in the crack of a carbon fiber mast according to the crew of Fresh Pineapple who were probably 50ish yards abeam of them at the second of disaster. Thank God I haven't heard of any injuries when the mast, just above the spreaders, came crashing down. #whitesquall
