GYA RACE OF CHAMPIONS @ SYC has had attendance issues for 3 years. The weather this year was a factor. SYC was-is on probation for attendance issues regarding this event. SYC is not the problem. Memorial Day Weekend Conflicts are the issue at hand. At Spring regatta at least 5 clubs said they were not coming due to other family and Memorial Day Weekend plans.

Next Year our Gulf Coast Home Girl is 2027 GYA Commodore and is SYC Member. SYC will host GYA Opening. Here is the 2027 Recipe:

Mid March Mardi Gras Regatta Capdevielle
2 weeks later in MARCH- April have RACE OF CHAMPS at SYC
2 weeks later in April GYA Opening Capdevielle at SYC

3 Capedevielle events over 6 weeks in same town. Leave boats at Power Squadron, SYC & NOYC with masts up.

Make this happen and you will have 13 Capedevielle and 3-5 GYA Open boats for total of 18 on the line each weekend.

Saving sailing, keeping it simple, thinking about the future and making it happen. This will BRING ROC BACK FROM THE DEAD and get SYC off of probation. Tell me I am wrong. Flame away GYA!
