A few years back, SYC stole Sugar Bowl regatta from the New Orleans Yacht Club. The SYC Commodore (Tim M) and current Sugar Bowl leadership (Erik F a SYC member) decided to move the regatta from the Fall with an alternating OA between SYC and NOYC to an annual SYC event during Juby Wynne on Memorial Day. This thinking was this would increase participation. This year, sadly some of the GYA teams were begging teams not to enter to make a minimum requirement to race, so they wouldn't have to come race.

The teamwork and camaraderie between the clubs SYC and NOYC are at a low point. Until we work together, to produce a fun experience for all, participation with fall.

A message to OA leadership, don't be so selfish. Think win-win and promote altruism.

We are better together,

H
